New Release – Nothing
This fantastic new song was recorded at my Devon studio with just Tim and I thrashing out the arrangement, and the excellent Tommy Sheen recording and sending us guitar parts as we updated the song! I programmed drums and synth bass and played the bass guitar on the chorus, and also tweaked the main guitar riff idea before we got Tommy to play it rather better than I could! Tim sang the fantastic lead and backing vocals. Then I edited, mixed and mastered – it was all done in two days! Stream/buy: https://metalpostcard.bandcamp.com/album/aliens-nothing

Aliens
I previously mastered the fabulous 2019 Aliens album “Terradome” which was masterminded by multiple award-winning film maker and former Roaring Boys member Tim May, who co-wrote the songs with Del Amitri’s Iain Harvie.

30lbs Of Air
In 2020, between lockdowns, Tim approached me to produce the second Aliens album which he co-wrote with my old mate Calum MacColl. The amazing four-piece tracking band was completed with former The Bible bassist Leroy Lendor, and Shriekback and Robert Plant drummer Martyn Barker. All incredible musicians! We had a fabulous time recording the album at Woodworm Studios in Oxfordshire. The legendary Helen Turner (Style Council, Paul Weller) joined us for some keyboard overdubs. Then I decamped back to my Manor Gardens Studio in Devon for further vocals and saxophones with Tim, cello by me, and backing vocals with Grace Cross and Joanne Clarkson. Iain Harvie sent us some amazing e-bow style guitars for one song. Calum and Martyn also recorded further overdubs and sent them. Then I mixed and mastered the whole album.

Tim says:
“George understood exactly what I wanted the sound and feel of the album to be. He recorded everything brilliantly, got the best performances out of everybody and was very patient with me during the mixing process. Oh, and he also played some beautiful, atmospheric cello.“
