Mastering the beautiful Rahbæk Due Sørensen album for the brilliant Mikael Andreasen

Mikael Andreasen in London 2023

Enjoying a few days having a ‘citybreak’ in Hampstead, London in April 2023, I chanced upon a Sunday evening gig at the Methodist Church. It turned out to be the excellent Danish musician Mikael Andreasen who was on a London sojourn from Copenhagen. With a bunch of recruited musicians, the evening was a delight, with beautiful songs and performances. We chatted afterwards, my excuse being that I had produced a Platinum-awarded album with one of Denmark’s biggest bands Gnags back in the 1990s, and of course Mikael knew of them. We also chatted about the Raveonettes who I’d met in New York and Efterklang who are from the same little island as Mikael.

Rahbæk Due Sørensen

Only a few weeks later, Mikael was in touch to see if I’d be interested in stem mastering a new album he was mixing. It was a project he had recorded at home during lockdown. It’s an absolutely gorgeous record, deceptively simple with fairly rudimentary drum machine patterns, but beautiful vocals and instrumentation, including lovely backing vocals and spoken word fragments, with acoustic guitar and synths. It was a joy to tweak and fit the elements together. There’s a Bandcamp player below, and wonderfully a terrific vinyl pressing which sounds fabulous…

About the mastering, Mikael says…

“It’s perfect! Thanks so much!

and

“I was very pleased with George’s work and the smooth communication throughout the process. Highly recommended!”
